Scott was a signed professional surfer at the age of fourteen, but being in the limelight at a young age without the proper grounding made him head down some dark paths. Looking back, he advises youngsters not to try and fit in according to what everyone else is doing. Everyone has their time and if yours hasn’t come yet, just stay focused and it will pay off in the end. Charging big waves isn’t without its consequences, Scott has pinched nerves in his back, dislocated joints and regularly slams the reef, but none of these obstacles are enough to deter him from his passion of surfing. He has now steered away from the contest scene to focus on getting good waves and even better footage!
Motocross, extreme enduro and off-road biking – all sports that you would agree have a decent element of risk attached to them. What takes Cameron beyond the average rider and into Bravery is the fact that he is actively involved (and winning medals) in these scenes despite the fact he CANNOT sustain even minor injuries to his face. In 2006 he was involved in a serious motor accident – being flung from his car he broke his jaw and crushed bones in his face, requiring reconstructive surgery and the insertion of metal plates! ‘You can do anything you set your mind to, no matter the obstacles life throws at you!’ he claims.
‘When I was drinking and drugging, I was busy dying. Now I’m busy living and loving the clean life!’
